    3rd - Sit for the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Phlebotomy Technician Certification Exam
  • Upon completion of the class, students are scheduled to take the NHA National Certification Exam at a PSI testing center in their area

Who Can Apply?

Healthcare professionals who are eligible to practice phlebotomy procedures in accordance with their state practice laws and professional regulations. In general this includes nurses (RNs and LPNs/LVNs), acdvanced practice clinicians (PAs, APRNs), physicians, medical technicians, certified nurse assistants, paramedics, EMTs, and other healthcare technicians involved in the clinical care of patients. Students of certain professions may be allowed to perform phlebotomy procedures towards the end of their training period or directly after graduation. Potential program candidates who are unsure of practice rules for their profession are encouraged to contact their professional state board governing their clinical practice prior to applying.

Phlebotomy Certification Class Details


PICC Resource Associates, LLC has been approved by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) to administer the NHA National Certification Examination for Phlebotomy Technician. Students that complete the requirements of our Phlebotomy Certification Program are eligible to challenge the NHA National Certification Examination. Students may take the NHA National Phlebotomy Technician Certification Examination adminstered at our office, or the exam can be taken at a PSI test center near the attendee's place of residence. The NHA has approved our in-person phlebotomy lab class to meet the NHA clinical eligibility requirements to sit for the NHA National Certification Exam.

What is the NHA?

The NHA is a leading allied health medical certification provider established in 1989 that provides national certification exams for certain high patient contact allied health professions. The NHA national certification programs assist allied health education programs and healthcare professionals to establish their commitment to high quality education and patient care. The NHA Phlebotomy Technician Certification Program is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA). Since 1987, the NCCA has helped to ensure the health, welfare, and safety of the public through the accreditation of certification programs/organizations that assess professional competence.


The Phlebotomy In-Person Lab Group Class is Optional For:

Students who will provide proof of performance of 30 venipunctures, and 10 skin (capillary) punctures on the job. Employer provides preceptor. Performance is documented on our competency assessment forms.

The Phlebotomy In-Person Lab Group Class is Available For:

Groups of students: from 2 up to 6 attendees total per three session class with one instructor. Students may take this class that choose to NOT perform required venipunctures and skin (capillary) punctures at their place of employment. This class can only be scheduled for groups, the class is not available for individual sign up.

Phlebotomy In-Person Lab Class Content:

The lab sessions are all hands on skill practice sessions in which procedures for drawing blood are practiced (venipuncture and skin (capillary) puncture techniques).  Program participants learn how to perform blood draw procedures under the guidance and supervision of our Nationally Certified Phlebotomy Instructor. All 3 sessions of the live scheduled lab class program must be completed to meet the NHA certification exam clinical requirements.

What is the cost of the Phlebotomy Certification Program?:

For students able to meet the clinical requirements at their place of employment (perform the venipunctures and skin capillary punctures): $585.00 for the online class. Additionally groups may sign up for our live phlebotomy lab group class held at our Shelton, CT office for $3,000.00 for up to 6 attendees per class (one instructor).


Please Note: Completion of the live in-person phlebotomy lab class sessions is not needed if your employer provides clinical supervision and allows you to perform the required phlebotomy blood draws on the job. We require proof of your supervised clinical time: Your preceptor must document the procedures performed on our clinical competency forms.

Program participants are solely responsible for their NHA Phlebotomy Technician National Certification Exam test results and studying the phlebotomy program material provided in preparation to sit for the NHA national certification exam. NHA test and/or retest rules and fees apply. NHA test fees are separate and payable to NHA.
